The End

September 21, 2006

That’s right everyone, this is it. The last post. Thanks to everyone for giving me so much support along the way!

The reasons I can no longer keep this blog going are many, but they all boil down to one main factor… TIME! Somehow I’ve run out of it! With school getting super intense, a new baby at home, time with Julie becoming more scarce, and a hundred other things… I just can’t spend the time that I DO have on the computer. It’s hard enough for me to find time to do the important things like “eat” and “sleep.”

So thank you to all of you! This has been a great experience! I will keep in touch with everyone. You can always get in touch with me at Digicode13@yahoo.com.

I’m sure I’ll be back someday!

Good bye friends!

Cuatro Generaciones

September 4, 2006

My Grandpa came to town today and we were able to get this “four generations” picture. Noah, me, my Dad and Grandpa. I’m glad we got it. Grandpa may not be around for much of Noah’s life and Noah will be glad to have this picture with his great-grandfather.

1 month!

August 28, 2006

It’s official, Noah is one month old today! That means just 17 years and 11 months left of legal responsibility! We can’t wait to pack his bags and throw him out into the cold cruel world!

Oh wait… my heart is trying to tell me that what I just said isn’t true. It’s saying that over this month I’ve grown to love this little guy. That in one measly month I’ve forged bonds that will last for the rest of my life. How can that be? How can I have such strong feelings for this kid??? I barely know him!

I guess he is pretty cute. And I do love the way he cuddles up to me after his mommy feeds him…

But he doesn’t even talk! Or do anything really exciting for that matter. He just eats, sleeps and poops.

It is pretty awesome when he wraps his little hand around my finger though. And when he falls asleep as I rock him time seems to stand still.

I wish he would let me sleep more…

But I guess I don’t need to sleep so much anyway.

Life has become pretty hectic…

but at the same time everything is slowing down.

You know what? I think my heart is right! I love this boy! This month has been hard, but it has been one of the best months of my life!

Happiness is…

August 22, 2006

By the end of this week Noah will be a month old. I’d be a liar if I didn’t say that this has been one of the best months of my life! Today will be a list day… I’m going to list all of the things that have contributed to this month running smoothly. These are the things that make me happy!

1. My wife! Watching her transform into a mother has been absolutely awesome! She’s tough as NAILS.

2. Noah! He’s a good baby, I have to thank him for that. He sleeps almost all the way through the night. He doesn’t cry unless he’s hungry. He’s pleasant. And he only pees on me when he really has to (not out of spite).

3. KFC Snackers! These things are awesome! At a buck apiece they are friendly on the wallet and they are perfect for situations where you don’t feel like making food on your own (like when you’ve just had a baby).

4. Grandparents! Julie’s Mom came over often during the first couple weeks to help out. She would watch the baby long enough for us to get in a nap. My parents really helped us out with food when we were in the hospital. Basically, Noah’s grandparents have all helped make this an easy transition… thanks guys!

5. Nintendo DS! Whether Julie is playing it while she nurses, or I’m playing it all the rest of the time… it has been a great investment! Who says video games are for kids!

I could go on with this list, but I just realized that this post is becoming too long. I’ll end here! Here are a couple pictures of Noah. His aunt Lori bought him these cool Converse All Stars and we had to try them on before he grew out of them! He’s so cute!

Blue Steel

August 15, 2006

I never dreamed of becoming a world famous runway model when I was young. Then again, the runway model industry didn’t have superstars like Derek Zoolander back then either. Noah seems to have found his calling in life as he spends much of his day practicing “Blue Steel,” getting pampered, and being adored by the masses.

He still has a way to go, but the desire is there!

“Well I guess it all started the first time I went through the second grade. I caught my reflection in a spoon while I was eating my cereal, and I remember thinking “wow, you’re ridiculously good looking, maybe you could do that for a career.”” – Derek Zoolander

Week 2

August 9, 2006

Here we are in the middle of week two and I realized that we need an update. Remembering to write is an accomplishment in itself… I have a hard time remembering to put my pants on before my shoes these days. It seems that since Noah was born I’ve become a total dunce. I can’t talk right. I forget to do things. I don’t know if it stems from lack of sleep or change of routine. Maybe I’ve always been this dumb and I’m just realizing it now that there is a tiny human that relies on me for everything. Hopefully I’ll snap out of it before school starts back up a the end of the month!

As for Noah, he’s had a great week! He’s getting up less frequently in the middle of the night. He’s getting better at nursing. He took some trips over to the grandparent’s houses. He got circumcised. That was a fun experience. Julie opted to wait in the waiting room and I went in to watch the operation. Noah decided that he didn’t like the look of all the sharp tools laying next to him on the table and relieved himself onto them. The doctor had to get out a new set of tools. My boy is a fighter! Everything has gone well since the operation.

On Thursday we are heading out of town so that Noah can meet his great-grandparents and his new cousin Gabe (Gabe was born less than a week after Noah). This will be Noah’s first trip. It will be about a one and a half hour drive. It should go pretty smoothly. We’ll post some pictures of the two babies when we get home.

That’s it for now… here are a couple of pictures!

New baby… new header!

I think he looks good up there!

Noah’s week-day!

August 3, 2006

I can’t believe it’s been a week already! And what an amazing week it has been!

Noah is doing great and making good progress. He finally got nursing down after a couple sleepless nights. He had his first pediatricians visit. He pooped for the first time (followed shortly by the second, third, and fourth times). He had a million visitors. He took a mini-road trip over to his grandparent’s house. He holds his head up. I really don’t think there’s anything that this little dude can’t do! (except just about everything!)

As for Julie and me? We’re doing pretty good as well. We’re tired. The house is a mess. We’ve been eating left-overs for days. But beyond all that, we’ve never been happier in our lives! It’s amazing that such a little baby can produce such great amounts of joy!

Speaking of sleep… I’m going to try and catch a nap before Noah wakes up. I’ll leave you with the baby photo test! Here are some baby photos of Julie, me, and Noah… see any similarities? Any differences? Any opinion at all? Let me know! (Julie is the one in the dress!)

Introducing…

July 30, 2006

NOAH JONATHAN BROWN!!!

Noah arrived Thursday night at 9:51 p.m! We are so happy to finally have him here with us! He is absolutely beautiful!

Here’s a few quick details about the day…

– Julie was in labor for 15 hours! The majority of the time we were told that she was going to have to have a c-section… she proved everyone wrong and delivered vaginally!

– Noah was loud! He came out screaming and all the family members who were waiting down the hall knew exactly when he was born!

– Noah is a big baby… his official birth weight is 9lbs exactly!

– He’s 21.25 inches long!

– The cots at the hospital are about as comfy as sleeping on monkey-bars.

– We were discharged to go home at noon on Saturday. Noah looked so cute in his car seat! We are happy to be home!

That’s about it… we are all healthy and happy! Thanks to everyone who has helped us out, sent flowers, called, visited, made us food, or anything else! We appreciate all the support!

Here are the first of the photos… more to follow!

TOMORROW

July 26, 2006

Induction it is! Tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. Julie will begin induction and sometime tomorrow we will be parents!

The doctor decided to induce based on the fact that the baby has not been moving down. For the last couple weeks he has been stuck at the -3 station. She said that if the baby doesn’t move down, Julie will be at high risk for a c-section… so bringing on labor is a last effort to get the little guy to come down. If it doesn’t work, then they’re taking him out with a knife and a shovel (that’s how I like to imagine c-sections… I’m sure I’ll be disappointed!). Either way, tomorrow I’ll be a dad!

I’m kind of glad… the doc said that if the baby had been at a more normal station she would have made us wait it out.

Our baby will be one of the rare few that is actually born on his due date!

Wish us luck… I’ll post some pictures and details as soon as we get home. Until then, take care! Thanks to everyone who has supported us and cheered us on up to this point! You guys are great!

See you soon!
